The Best Recent Underground Brutal Death Metal 2016 / 2017
This is just a bit of promotion to whom it may concern:
Every now and then I experience a sort of "dry spell" when it comes to new Brutal Death Metal releases. Nothing seems to sound fresh and appealing. During those times I tend to doubt the vitality of the underground scene and - quite melodramatically - fear for the end of brutal underground Death Metal as we know and need it.
Luckily, the brutal underground keeps on delivering. It might not be as volatile and dynamic as it used to be, with instantly classic records dropping every few months, but new quality stuff is still popping up.
In order to promote a few records that have caught my attention over the last year I decided to just post a few YouTube links here for you to check out.

(2002) Hemdale - Rad Jackson
I'd like to point your attention to this band because of their 1994 self-titled demo (which is included in this compilation). This band is generally categorized as Goregrind or Grindcore but on their demo they feature a defined Brutal Death Metal sound.

(1999) Odious Sanction - Psychotically Enraged
I remember this band mostly from bargain bins, but since their drummer's current band, the legendary Immolation (!!!) is releasing a new record right about now, I figured it was due to revisit this 1999 record once again. It's very percussive, the guitars delivering palm muted riff after palm muted riff. The drumming is top notch, too. The vocals are raspy shouts, kinda similar to Dim Mak. Regarding the fact that Osious Sanction stayed quite obscure I have a suspicion that it might be related to the vocals, because I felt that that turned many people off of Dim Mak. For me personally it's not a problem, so it's sad to see these bands remain stuck in the lower pits of the underground.

(1992) Disgrace - Grey Misery
You know I'm always interested in finding brutality in unexpected places (Wombbath being a classic case for example). So when you think of 1992 Death Metal from Finland you're most likely thinking of murky obscure Swedish-esque old school stuff. Surprise. This is groove-laden experimental rhythmic tightness with a nice abrasive production comparable to the mighty Blood Ritual.

(1993/1994) Crown of Thorns - Forever Heaven Gone & Forget the Light Demos
An unusual choice to go on this blog but especially the "Forever Heaven Gone" demo shows how these Guys were rooted in there rather brutal regions of Death Metal. Nice amounts of blasts and general percussiveness. I mean, regardless of them being labeled as "Melodic Death Metal" nowadays, they were always quite enjoyable for me as a more Brutal DM-oriented listener, which most likely is bades on their fast playing and the occasional blasts. If you liked Bloodstone, you'll probably also like this.
NERD FACTS: their song "Diachronic Damnation" was later re-used in the song "Zombiefied!", also "Last Rites" was partially re-used in "Face Of Destruction".

Disclaimer: you'll be downloading the bonus CD of The Crowns "Possessed 13" record, because that's where the demos are compiled. So, just in case you were wondering.
